In celebration of the creativity that exists with our Victorian First Nations’ artists, Ngali and Kinaway have created an opportunity to have Kinaway members/artists participate in Melbourne Fashion Week by painting their artwork on 8 pairs of boots (artists can submit to do more than one pair) that have been provided by Country Road. These unique and one of a kind boots will be shown on the runway as part of MFW on 12th October and an exciting follow up runway on 4th November (details on that are to come).
Details:
- Final boots designs will be selected for inclusion based on they how work with the clothing collection but we are hoping for all 8 pairs to be included
- The fee payable to each artist is $400
- The boots will be featured in 2 major runway events
- A story card will be created to feature the details of each artist for promotional purposes for the runways
- Each artist will have access to all promotional material including photographic and video images
- The boots will be auctioned off at the end of the 2nd runway (held in November)
- 50% of the auction amount will go to the artist.
- Balance of 50% will go to dot com mob via B1G1 towards literacy and IT education for children living in remotes areas of Australia
- Design ideas submitted with the EOI will remain the property of the artist
- Design idea/s requires sign off by the runway event organiser – in this case Ngali before work on the boots commences.
- EOI submissions are required by 9th September – including a draft idea of what the artist would like to create on the boots.
- Finished boots need to be sent by registered post no later than 26th September.
Points to note:
- The runways are promoting the summer season so keep in mind when creating the artwork as the boots are currently black.
- Artist to ensure the paint used for creating the artworks is relevant to leather and will be permanent.
- Artwork to celebrate our First Nations’ creativity
